Here is a roadmap to understanding how to train jiu-jitsu as we get older:
1) Mindset Shift: Avoid injury, train smarter not harder, tap early, forcus on learning, give yourself time to recover, do not let your ego get in the way of your process, make it a game and focus on developing your strategy, and your technique.
2) Recovery: Keep yourself and your training partners safe at all times, sleep and nutrition should be an important part of recovery, stay strong but mobile, flexibility will keep you on the mats.
3) Adapt your game; Take a more technical approach to your , high efficiency is the ultimate goal in bjj, if you work on your technique as number one priority, your journey will become a little less challenging, learn how to slow things down, rater than matching what your partner is doing, don’t be afraid of saying no to certain rolls…
4) Keep it fun and sustainable: Make sure to set the right goals for your training, set personal goals, learn the concepts and not just the technique, conceptual training leads to better cognitive and physical outcomes.
